Spicers Potts Point Sydney Review
Staying at Spicers Potts Point, in central Sydney was so perfect for exploring everything the city had to offer. Sure, seeing the famed Sydney Opera House was definitely a highlight, especially as we were able to walk to it from Spicers Potts Point, but there is so much more to the Aussie city than I initially thought. Being so centrally located allowed us to maximize the three days we had there. However, I was also perfectly content to relax and indulge in the luxurious offerings of the hotel as much as seeing the exciting city outside of it.
Spicers Potts Points was renovated originally from a building dating back the 1880s. Although the inside is modern, our terrace and outside architecture was created in a Victorian-era style, which was absolutely gorgeous. There even was an ode to the history of the building with a vinyl player in our room!
We got to stay in one of the suites facing the street with a view of the city right outside our window! I absolutely loved the tasteful, simplicity of the design of the hotel. What especially stood out to me was the huge, luxurious bathtub in our room with its own bath caviar. After our long journey up the coast of Australia, relaxing in it was just what I needed! Of course, my favorite part was the balcony and being able to eat breakfast with a beautiful view.
The hospitality of Spicers Potts Point was simply amazing. It’s such a small hotel that you are definitely not just a number during your stay. Whatever questions or requests we had were answered to right away and we got a ton of helpful tips about exploring the city from the front desk. A unique thing that this hotel does is provide their guests with free gourmet snacks and Voss water in the rooms, as well as a free house cocktail every night! It was so fun trying one of the bartender’s specialty drinks before heading out for dinner.
If a hotel doesn’t serve a decent breakfast, it’s bad news in my books, but Spicers Potts Point didn’t just serve a decent breakfast, they served an absolutely delicious one! Not only did they have a buffet in the morning, but you could choose from a selection of “a la carte” items, including French Toast with lime Mascarpone, which was to die for. I’m not a big sweets person in the morning, but I ended up having it twice because it was so good!
The location of Spicers Potts Point is everything! It’s just a 15 minute walk to the Sydney Opera House and through a botanical garden no less! Besides that, it’s surrounded by a ton of interesting restaurants and bars and other points of interest so you could spend the entire day exploring without needing to get in an Uber or take the Metro.
If you’re looking for a centrally-located, chic getaway then Spicers Potts Point delivers on all fronts. It's a boutique hotel that puts all the effort into making sure their details are perfected and that all of your desires are met.
