Long Beach Chalet Review

Long Beach Chalet Review

Long Beach Chalet in Koh Lanta was a much needed reprise from the crowds and craziness of Koh Phi Phi. I had previously heard that Koh Lanta was known as "the sleepy island", but had no problem with some quiet relaxation. When we pulled up to Long Beach Chalet's entrance I really didn't know what to expect, but I definitely wasn't expecting to be treated like family. In fact, it later came as no surprise that LBC is a family-owned and run business. For anyone who wants to get away from the Thailand craziness, but doesn't necessarily want to be in a totally dead area, Long Beach Chalet is where it's at.

The Food

I have to start with the food. We ate nowhere else but at Lym's, which was the resort's restaurant named after its owner. Everything we ate was wonderful. I especially took a liking to the Bangkok-style cashew chicken and ended up ordering it twice. The Pad-See Ew was also some of the best I've had in Thailand so far. I'm not used to the stickier noodles that they serve here, but Lym's dish was bomb.

The Drinks

We ended up ordering a few drinks for happy hour on both nights that we were staying there and loved both of them. I'm a Pina Colada type of girl (I know, don't judge me) and Lym's Pina Coladas were on point. I also tried a special drink called Chi Chi, which was made with Blue Curaco, Vodka, Coconut and Pineapple juice--similar to the Pina Colada, but stronger, blue and very tasty.

The Ambiance

One of my favorite parts about Long Beach Chalet was the music they played at night. We were getting a little sick of the pumping techno and old pop songs often played at restaurants here, but we were instead delighted with the breezy, light trop house and electronic tunes that were played. There was also a vibrant, youthful energy about the place. We even got corralled into taking flaming shots with a group of Malaysian partiers that were twice are age and had twice as much drinking stamina.

The Room

We got the Beach-View Villa, which overlooked the water. Staying in that room made our  trip in itself. There is something indescribable about waking up in the morning to the sound of crashing waves and the first thing you see is the blue of the ocean. The villa was set up like a glass box, which gave you panoramic view of the propriety.

The Hospitality

Like I said the staff at Long Beach Chalet treated us like family. Lym even took Chris into her house to get him an herbal salve for a spider bite he got on his leg (don't worry he's alive).
