Waikiki Parc Hotel - Honolulu, Hawaii

Waikiki Parc hotel is a gem amongst the bustling streets of the Waikiki beachfront. It's no frill, comfort tied with amazing amenities is perfect for those travelers who want a centralized location and an array of activities at their fingertips.

The Room

We had an ocean-facing room with a spectacular view of the glistening aqua water and beach only a few hundred feet away. It was awe-inspiring to wake up in the mornings to the gorgeous sunset colors reflecting off the water. Another noticeable aspect of the room was the sheets. I always find it favorable when a hotel puts effort into their sheets and Waikiki Parc's were some of the softest I've ever slept in! It was a bit of a double-edged sword since I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning.

The Perks

Waikiki Parc has a great two-room gym overlooking the rooftop pool. I spent an hour or two on the treadmill during my three nights there and had it to myself all three times. The lounging area and pool are also a lovely place to catch a few rays of sun or do a few laps.

We also ran into a lovely surprise on one of the nights we entered into the lobby, when we found live music and free refreshments including guava juice and pineapple slices.

The Surrounding Area

Like I said, Waikiki Parc is only a few hundred feet away from the beach so you can easily meander out of the hotel and have your toes in the sand in a matter of minutes. Although Waikiki Beach is quite crowded, you can easily find yourself a nice spot, especially if you walk a bit down the beach.

The Waikiki Strip is also filled with all kinds of restaurants, bars and shops to check out if you want to spend a few hours shopping and just walking around.

The Spa

Want to spend a relaxing day getting pampered? Then Waikiki Parc can book a spa day for you at their sister hotel right across the street! I got a Glow Facial from Spa Halekulani, which was an amazing experience that included a shoulder massage, exfoliation, and a number of different rejuvenating products. The result was that my skin truly had a glow to it! At the end of my facial I also got an ice cream mocha and iced tea and got to relax on one of their day beds. Treat yourself!

Surf Lessons

Oh boy! I didn't know what to expect when it came to our surf lesson. The only type of surfing that I've done is of the body variety, which doesn't take much skill. We were sent to Waikiki's partner, the Hans Hedemann Surf School, which was about a 15 minute walk away. Everything was provided including the board, rash guards and water slippers. In the end it was such a cool experience! Our instructor was awesome and went step by step on how to get on the board, paddle, stand and ultimately catch a wave! I ended up standing on the board in a couple of tries and even caught a few waves. This is definitely a must for anyone who wants to get on a board, but has never done it before.

The Food

On our last night we ate dinner in house at Waikiki Parc's Lē'ahi Concept Kitchen. What's so cool about it is that the waiters and chefs are all community college students learning how to cook and serve unique dishes. The ingredients are all locally sourced and incredibly fresh! I started with the Ahi Tacos and ended with the scallops, which were both delicious and you could tell a lot of love went into each dish. We also enjoyed live piano music while we ate.

We also got breakfast one of the days that we were there. I was so thrilled that they served both a traditional Japanese and American breakfast in the form of a buffet. Chris got eggs and bacon while I got miso soup and rice and we were both really satisfied.

For anyone who is thinking of vacationing in Honolulu, Waikiki Parc is a great, affordable option. Whether you're traveling as a couple like us, with a family or even solo, Waikiki Parc will make sure to take care of your every needs.
