The Puncak - Lombok, Indonesia

The Puncak was the definition of luxurious romanticism. In the Indonesian language, The Puncak means "Summit" as it is perched atop one of the largest hills in Lombok, which overlooks miles of the gorgeous Lombokian coastline. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hotel owner with a warm smile and a little background on how The Puncak came to be. Jean Paul and his wife Nury built the hotel without any contractors and you could tell throughout the stay that these two truly poured their hearts into creating this marvelous boutique hotel.

Although The Puncak is small and designed for honeymooners, any traveler can soak in the beauty and serenity of this place. Each room is named after a different type of stone, as a magnificent stone headpiece lines the wall above and behind the bed. The rooms were unique and differ in small detail which displays the amount of passion and effort that go into designing The Puncak. Sweet aromas and flower pedals are found throughout the room, giving off a feeling of being in a tranquil home rather than a hotel. With five elegant rooms, The Puncak is able to deliver an amazing experience to each and every guest with a staff who can always assist you with anything you need. You can really find another level of peace and relaxation with perfect views of the sun setting behind the water from the comfort of lounge chairs, your own dining table or the stunning infinity pool.

We were welcomed with a complimentary traditional Lombok salad and freshly picked coconut juice, which was wonderful after our hot boat ride from Gili Meno. The dinner is completely specially prepared and daily fresh, so whatever you are feeling, kindly ask the staff and they will craft the perfect meal. Along with dinner is a graceful arrangement of lanterns and lights to set the mood for a picturesque night of fine dining.

My absolute favorite part of my stay at Puncak was the bed. Jean Paul informed us that he took special care in choosing tempurpedic mattresses and high thread count sheets from abroad to have shipped over, as he accurately pointed out—the most important part of staying at any hotel is sleeping so why not make it the best experience possible. I kid you not I slept for almost 11 hours, not because I was overly tired, but simply because I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud specifically designed for me.

Overall, The Puncak was a wonderful welcoming experience into the island of Lombok. Jean Paul and Nury ultimately want their guests to be submerged in an experience that tingles each of the five human senses. I am very happy and confident in saying that these two, along with the help of their kind staff, have perfected the art of making a guest feel blissful while staying at The Puncak. If you would like a unique encounter at a boutique hotel designed to cater your every comfort, then The Puncak is highly recommended.
